Getting it Ready to Sell
Once you list your home, start simplifying - it will make your move easier, and your home will show better to prospective buyers who'll be looking at your home. Remember, it's not about you. Look objectively at everything about your home and make changes that will broaden its appeal.
Get rid of all the "stuff". Less is better, because buyers can't see past clutter. Start packing things like books, clothes and dishes that you don't need. Trust me, buyers will be able to appreciate the space, and they'll be better able to visualize their "stuff" in your house.
You will only get one chance to make a good first impression. So go outside to the curb and try to see what a buyer will see when they first drive up. Make the plants, bushes and trees beautiful . . . you may have to plant a few flowers. Or put some pretty potted flowers strategically around the porch and garage. Are the numbers on your house firmly in place? Cut the lawn and trim the edges, and clean up the scraps of grass.
How's your front door?
Does it need a fresh coat of paint?
Does the hardware need to be replaced? Make it look inviting!
Paint - outside and inside, wherever it's needed Remember that paint is like money in a can - it works wonders to transform an ordinary space into a spectacular one.
